We’ve lived so long under the spell of hierarchy—from god-kings to feudal lords to party bosses—that only recently have we awakened to see not only that “regular” citizens have the capacity for self-governance, but that without their engagement our huge global crises cannot be addressed. The changes needed for human society simply to survive, let alone thrive, are so profound that the only way we will move toward them is if we ourselves, regular citizens, feel meaningful ownership of solutions through direct engagement. Our problems are too big, interrelated, and pervasive to yield to directives from on high.

from IPS news service. The CIA-Kissinger-International Telephone & Telegraph engineered coup in 1973 turned back the democratically elected government of socialist oriented Allende in order to restore full capitalist control under the Pinochet dictatorship. Now we see that the capitalist ruling class does not tolerate local control over media. This is in sharp contrast to the numerous community organized radio stations in Venezuela that are promoted by the Bolivarian administration of Hugo Chavez. I personally visited several of them. Control of the media by capitalist classes is always a top priority in every country under their rule.
