We’ve lived so long under the spell of hierarchy—from god-kings to feudal lords to party bosses—that only recently have we awakened to see not only that “regular” citizens have the capacity for self-governance, but that without their engagement our huge global crises cannot be addressed. The changes needed for human society simply to survive, let alone thrive, are so profound that the only way we will move toward them is if we ourselves, regular citizens, feel meaningful ownership of solutions through direct engagement. Our problems are too big, interrelated, and pervasive to yield to directives from on high.

Kerry gives Russia until Monday to withdraw from Crimea, agree to the Victoria Nuland plan, and give up cabbage soup

Ms. Nuland and Mr. Pyatt agreed that the right kind of minister for Ukraine to serve western interests was Mr. Arseniy "Rats" Yatsenyuk while vigorously rejecting the EU choice for the position.
Instead of my usual practice on Saturdays to post an article about our fellow citizens of the One Percent (actually .01 of the 1%, or one out of every 10,000 of us) to promote better understanding, I am posting this article which reports on one of them, John Kerry, who is directing our nation's policies with respect to Ukraine. It is important that we understand what he is doing on behalf of freedom and democracy so that we can wholeheartedly support him and, if necessary, stop what we are doing, enlist in the army, and go overseas to kill Russians who, it seems, are planning to do nasty things to Ukraine, or maybe just Crimea. Besides those Russians are probably commies, and we all know what they are like.
