• Your Guide to The Great Convergence featuring James Corbett from his weblog (1:14:36hr) explaining how and why our masters are promoting "transhumanism" which is the current grand fantasy of our masters in the capitalist ruling class as their Empire project is on a road to decline. This fantasy includes their sub-fantasies that promise "the idea of using technology to overcome sickness, aging, and death." My reaction: My only criticism is that Corbett (as well as Christian Westbrook of the Ice Age Farmer, etc.) disregards the very realistic threat to all species survival: the dramatic accelerating warming of our planet caused by the compulsive drive of capitalists to enhance profits for their own interests--not ours.

Hence, there is pushback from the European Union on Biden’s attempts to sabotage the economic partnership between the 27-member bloc and China. There are limits to which the EU will go in damaging the landmark Comprehensive Investment Agreement it signed with Beijing in December.

Likewise, Germany is not tolerating any attempts by the Biden administration to scupper the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline with Russia which will be vital for fuelling German industry. Again, self-interest kicks in to bring mundane common sense into conflict with the American mythology of a Cold War.

I have followed this ex-Marine for the last 10 years, and I've always found his reports about political issues, whether they were about Thailand or some other country, to be absolutely spot-on (to use a British expression). Thus I trust his presentation and analyses of issues.

As Caitlin Johnstone frequently and convincingly writes, "Whoever controls the narrative controls the world." This is never more true than in today's world because the communication of ideas has become under such tight control by a relatively few capitalists than ever before. This point is driven into our consciousness no better than this article by Berletic. The solution is obvious: take away their ownership/control of communication properties. But that would be the ultimate evil of communism, you declare in an angry voice! The thorough indoctrination of your mind by capitalist ruling classes who control all institutions is the problem preventing any future progress and ensuring our ultimate doom.

(Note: I haven't thought about money for several years, and I needed this update. I would be presumptuous to claim that I understand his explanation about a phenomenon that has taken over 10,000 years to evolve into what is today--debt money. I thought I understood money, but I had so money questions that I wanted to ask Titus to clarify his explanations.  

I know that issuing digital money gives the Federal Reserve, which is owned by private bankers, near total control over us. I know that BIS, Bank of International Settlements, is a bank in Switzerland that serves a central bank to all central banks. I know that when, in 1971, the USA removed some gold backing from our currency, and instead replaced it with oil-backed petro-dollars in exchange for protecting Saudi Arabia, and their agreement to sell their oil only in US dollars (Kissinger largely engineered this arrangement). I know that when the Fed issues money, it does so by putting the USA deeper in debt to them with interest. I understood a little, but not much else of his explanations. I will revisit this subject, and I encourage you to do likewise by visiting the many links offered in Corbett's show notes and other links, especially links in my website by typing in "money" in the search boxes or accessing the label "money" near the right-hand bottom of the website or "Understanding money" page on the top right-hand side. It's time to revisit this vital subject, to update our understanding of it, and take control of this money-issue in order to ensure that it serves our interest instead of that of the interests of the financiers, the core of our ruling class.)

My commentary follows:

In this video clip, Berletic reveals how US social media-tech corporations such as Facebook and Twitter have functioned in Thailand and neighboring countries as a weapon to destabilize their governments and shape their policies to bring into alignment with US policies and political interests. 

I've argued many times that the neofascism as practiced by the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire has shaped classic fascism by greatly enhancing the manipulation of information that targeted populations receive. This weapon was first used in WWI, and to the surprise of their propaganda agents, the methods used were astonishingly successful in turning the American public from neutrality to active support for the USA to enter the war. They used propaganda to portray the Germans as diabolical people. After the war, these same techniques were used, and developed, in advertising to motivate consumers to purchase the many products of corporations.

The Nazis also used propaganda to motivate their populations to go to war; but because the science of propaganda was still rudimentary, Nazis mostly relied on force or the threat of force. This is the classic view of Nazism which current Empire propagandists try so hard to differentiate from today's rule. I've tried throughout the more than 10 years of blogging to describe this process. (See this commentary, for example.) But our capitalist masters didn't stop there--they rewrote history, and their concentration of wealth and power of the post-WWII years brought increased control over jobs and careers. Those that didn't subscribe to their agendas were left to dead-end jobs or to starve to death, and those that contributed to their agendas were well remunerated and enjoyed comfortable careers. 

Fascism is predominately the last stage of capitalism, and it depends on methods of control of populations. I argue that it matters not what forms this control takes--whether it is accomplished through the threat of force or control of information or the manipulation of information that a population is permitted to access--it is still fascism. Censorship is increasing exponentially. But our masters have methods beyond the mere access to information: they have used psy-ops to create chaos and fear in their populations which makes it easier for them to impose policies that increase their control over populations. I choose to call these advanced methods "neofascism". To be sure, the directors of the Empire continue to use the threat of violence to ensure a population's compliance when their propaganda techniques fail to work. 

A contemporary writer by the name of Gabriel Rockhill seems to have a real grasp of this neofascism, but he chooses to call it plain fascism. I recommend to you the following posts featuring his articles:

• PCR Inventor: “It doesn’t tell you that you are sick” by David James from Off-Guardian.
  

There has been a great deal of controversy over claims that Kary Mullis, the creator of the PCR technology that is being widely used to test for so-called ‘cases’ of COVID-19, did not believe the technology was suitable for detecting a meaningful presence of a virus. 

Those making these assertions were attacked and ‘fact checked’ (deemed inappropriate by propagandists) by news outlets claiming that Mullis’ comments had been taken out of context. 

So when a video surfaces with Mullis talking about the efficacy of the technology it is worth paying close attention to what he is saying.

• And a Plague Shall Cover the Land of Trump by Brendan O’Neill from Anti-Empire. My reaction: The author points to the dominant capitalist ruling class and its method derived from the Middle Ages to shape the views held by ordinary Americans via their media corporations:

And there you have it, in terrifying black and white, in explicit Biblical writ: if Trump stays in power, America will be visited by floods, fires and plagues; death will come to your door; pestilence will be visited upon the land. This pre-modernism among those who fancy themselves as modern – as enlightened and ‘woke’ – is striking. It speaks to their own profound inability to come up with a vision for the US that might inspire voters, so instead they must invoke a PC version of Leviticus and warn people that if you don’t choose us then you will be consumed by hellfire and disease. And it confirms what they find so distasteful about so-called Trumpworld – the fact that it has dared to question expert authority, pushed aside the liberal elites who believe that they are the only people sensible enough to rule, and propagated the apparently outrageous idea that ordinary people (eurgh) have something to contribute to the discussion about how we deal with Covid-19 and other crises. 

This is what lurks behind the irrational, anti-Enlightened treatment of Covid as a metaphor for the sicknesses of 21st-century America – the desperation of the bruised old elites to regain their authority over a people whom they view as too dumb, vulgar and destructive to govern their own lives. Now that’s sick.

• The Dollar Standard Slipping Out of Control? by Alastair Crooke from Strategic Culture Foundation. My commentary follows:
  

Crooke has an interesting background in British diplomacy, MI-6 spy analyst, and now geopolitical analyst. In this article he attempts to unravel the mysteries of global currencies, and in particular, the Federal Reserve's printing money and giving it mostly to US banks and corporations. His analysis explains this as an attempt to make US dollars cheaper and easier for the US government to pay off its soaring debts.

It is about U.S. explosive debt accumulation, on account of the Coronavirus lockdown. In a world where there is already over $100 trillion in dollar-denominated debt, on which the U.S. cannot default; nor will it ever be repaid. It can therefore only be inflated away. That is to say the debt can only be managed through debasing the currency. (Debt jubilees are viewed as beyond the pale.)

One thing to keep in mind: Control of the Federal Reserve lies mostly in the real ruling class that owns most of the USA--the financial and dominant part of the ruling capitalist class. However, these fabulously rich and powerful people are split between domestic financiers but are increasingly being challenged by transnational capitalists or "globalists". The latter see the cheapening of dollar as a hindrance to their transnational capitalist profits and are becoming worried about the US dollar as a prime global currency.

But keep in mind, these problems exist regardless of which capitalist party wins the elections. Elections are mostly irrelevant in this fake democracy in order to distract workers from the real issues. International workers, particularly highly skilled and trained workers who are essential to make economies run, have been largely co-opted with lucrative careers into serving capitalists. Capitalists have nothing much to do but to bet on stocks, bonds, and currencies in their Wall Street casinos. Meanwhile, ordinary workers are left to struggle to feed, clothe, and house their families on a planet that is increasingly threatened by global warming.

Erin Marie Olszewski is a Nurse-turned-investigative journalist, who has spent the last few months on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic, on the inside in two radically different settings. Two hospitals. One private, the other public. One in Florida, the other in New York. 

And not just any New York public hospital, but the "epicenter of the epicenter" itself, the infamous Elmhurst in Donald Trump's Queens. As a result of these diametrically opposed experiences, she has the ultimate "perspective on the pandemic". She has been where there have been the most deaths attributed to Covid-19 and where there have been the least. 

Erin enlisted in the Army when she was 17. She deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. Part of her duties involved overseeing aid disbursement and improvements to hospital facilities. While in country she received the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service, and was wounded in combat. Erin eventually retired as a sergeant, and became a civilian nurse in 2012. 

Erin is a medical freedom and informed consent advocate. She co-founded the Florida Freedom Alliance but no longer has any connection with the organization.

• Anti-Communism is a Fundamentalist Religion, Now Followed by Billions by Andre Vltchek from New Eastern Outlook. (Note: I must thank an activist, Caren, for alerting me to this post.) My commentary follows:

Not only anti-Communism is a religion, but capitalism is as well. Unlike Vltchek, I was thoroughly indoctrinated in capitalism having been born and raised in the USA. But I was exposed to other versions of political reality in my young adult years. So I gradually became immune to the incessant propaganda that I was subject to the rest of my life. Because I had doubts in 1959 and subsequent years about what I was told to believe about Cuba and its revolution, and I sought out obscure periodicals in the library at a university that I was attending. These provided a very different version of political reality regarding their revolution. Since then, I uncovered one lie after another while being subject to an incessant, 24/7 propaganda barrage disparaging communism (a Marxist variant on the theme of socialism) and celebrating the fake version of "democracy" which I soon discovered as the bourgeous or capitalist version of democracy. I became convinced that capitalism was the root cause of so many social problems.

However Vltchek never directly answered the question posed early in his article in a quote apparently by his friend Aleksandr Buzgalin: “How is it possible that a system so logical, progressive, and so superior to what is, up till now, governing the world, failed to permanently overthrow the nihilism and brutality of capitalism, imperialism and neo-colonialism?” Obviously he lays the blame on capitalist propaganda. But, what would you expect other than their use of propaganda together with all other weapons at their disposal in order to destroy a system that was a major threat to capitalist rule?

I have since studied this question and have concluded that the Soviet Union was so damaged after their revolution in 1917 due to foreign invasions and trade boycotts by capitalist countries that they soon succumbed to a self-serving bureaucracy led by Joseph Stalin, and from which they never recovered. In effect, a bureaucratic ruling class was established. In addition, Lenin and his Bolsheviks knew that in order to succeed, other revolutions needed to occur in advanced capitalist countries which did not happen because they were crushed by the capitalist ruling classes.

Now I would answer this question by stating that "a system so logical, progressive, and so superior" to capitalism is no guarantee that it will survive and thrive. Even if the USSR had anything like a real communism, history has offered proof of this. I think that a communist system might still succeed if humans had a future beyond a century with the (doubtful) assumption that humans could avert a catastrophic nuclear war. But they do not. Because capitalist activities have so polluted our skies, oceans, and trees with greenhouse gases, the human species has insured its own extinction within a few decades. 

Karl Marx got one thing wrong--the inevitability of communism for the salvation of humans. Why should humans unlike all other species have this quality of endurance?

My comments: According to early data from this higlyly qualified source and other competent sources, Covid-19 is not more fatal than influenza. I am 84 years old with chronic bronchitis, and I see myself as extremely vulnerable to this virus. Thus, I am observing carefully all social distance advisories as should all people in my condition. (Edited comment for clarity of my views based on date between 4:30 PM and 6:45 PM CT.)

Next day commentary: I don't see that Valentine's thesis that the ruling class used the Phoenix Program, which they used in Vietnam, has been used to suppress dissent in the USA. Our masters have used a variety of sources to increase their control of society, but they have done this while perserving the ideology of a "democratic" society that has a number of civil liberties. The use of propaganda through the infiltration of media corporations was primarily applied in the USA and to lessor extent to the European countries of the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire. Vietnam's society was not the same as US's society. Thus, they have used a variety of means, including their experience in Vietnam, to exercise more control over dissidents in the USA. The only transfer of the Phoenix Program was the use of computers to identify dissidents, but that was perfectly logical to use updated technology to track dissidents. His observations did describe the growing militarization of US society to control dissent that have occurred over many recent decades, but again that was only logical and the roots go back to all fascist regimes. All of these methods were designed to control populations under their control to counter any threats to their capitalist system.

My commentary: I've spent entirely too much time on this article, and I advise you to avoid it in the interests of efficiency of your time to understand current monumental issues that confront humans. Zuesse's tremendous efforts in this article is to establish, once and for all, his social-democratic understanding of these these current issues. His views are a product of a post-war education in which social-democractic views were still fashionable on college campuses and those espousing them were amply rewarded. To hold his social-democratic views is to ignore the innumerable historical events of capitalist exploitation of workers that preceded WWII. Some of these events I have written about in my "best posts" category.

I only draw attention to this article because this perspective still exists among American intellectuals, and its influence is pernicious to say the least. To restore capitalism as it was before WWII is impossible, but that is what many American bloggers like Paul Craig Roberts, old-fashion conservatives like Pat Buchanan, and historians like Eric Zuesse want to do. If, on the other hand, you see capitalism as a system that evolves or develops over time into complete capitalist class rule (fascism), you will see social-democracy as a dead end, and work for system change.

My question: Could the unpredictiable Erdogan simply be playing USA and Russia off against each other (def.) similar to the prime ministers of India?

Webb's insightful comments are in the segment that runs between 7:27m to 39:10m of the more than three hours of the podcast. The remainder of the post is mostly devoted to a rant, or maybe a tirade, by Cristián about the manipulations of corporate media to get us to hate China, those who are duped by these media corporations, Donald Trump, and the recent Cares Act which is giving billions to wealthy individuals and corporations.  

Cristián joins Jimmy Dore in being shocked and angry about all the political events which have been recently happening and have been reported for many years in left-wing alternative media. Cristián does not yet identify these perpetrators as the Deep State, instead he describes them as little more than "bad guys".) However, could he and Dore be "canaries in the coal mine" (def.) who are the forerunners of "surplus"  workers when they also wake up in the months to come? I think that the anger of these two may be an advanced warning of things to come (def.).
