For decades the suited and booted economic hitmen of organisations such as the IMF and World Bank have subjected some of the world’s poorest countries to a brutal process of neocolonial wealth extraction. Across vast swathes of Africa, Asia and Latin America they created an economic wasteland and called it progress.
