The censorship of information is at an all time high, but do people really recognize the extent to which it has been and is being carried out? A recent article published in the British Medical Journal by journalist Laurie Clarke has highlighted the fact that Facebook has already removed at least 16 million pieces of content from its platform and added warnings to approximately 167 million others. YouTube has removed nearly 1 million videos related to, according to them, “dangerous or misleading covid-19 medical information.”

My reaction: These are great times for women of color to make it into political offices. There is only one catch: They must carry- out orders of their masters in the capitalist ruling class. This is another manifestation of the ruling class wrapping themselves in virtue.

This is the latest panel discussion hosted by the International Manifesto Group on Sunday 13th June 2021.

 
Economic sanctions are becoming an increasingly popular foreign policy instrument in Western countries, deployed alone or in conjunction with military and/or diplomatic interventions to achieve strategic political and policy goals, such as ostensibly protecting individuals and states from the behaviour of wrongdoers. Because economic sanctions are considered less violent than direct military assault, they are often supported by many on the left and the peace movement, who reluctantly accept the policy as a necessary evil.

This panel, part of a broader series on sanctions, will focus on their public health effects, through an analysis of five case studies: Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Syria and Iran. All but one of these countries are currently under sanctions by both Canada and the United States.

 

(Note: This post is only Beeley's contribution to this discussion regarding Syria as a victim of economic sanctions that was a part of the general discussions about the effects, particularly on small countries, from the use of economic sanctions. Only large, financially stable nations like Russia and China can prevent sanctions from doing major damage to their nations.)

 

My reaction: The weapon of economic sanctions is the 21st century's weapon of choice that formerly was accomplished by what Gen. Smedley Butler referred to as a "racket" that was the weapon of choice for the US prior to WWII. (After WWII such invasions were replaced by subversive actions. Economic sanctions were added to subversive efforts in the 21st century. This was especially evident in Syria, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran.) Butler was referring to the invasions of Latin American countries, much like organized crime used in major North American cities, to threaten small businesses with harm if they didn't financially dole out bribes to Mafia figures to prevent further harm.

Naomi Karavani focuses on Jeff Bezos and Amazon.com, Inc. in this Weekly Offensive. Bezos recently announced his plan to head to space on a commercial flight with his company Blue Origin. The announcement of his space flight came amid a flurry of bad press over tax evasion, questions about antitrust violations, Amazon's $8.45 billion purchase of MGM, and a global corporate tax proposal from the G7 that could leave Amazon out.

• Culture Influences Mask Wearing: Collectivism Predicts Mask Use During COVID-19 by Peter Dizikes of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. My brief comment follows: 

Dizikes uses a definition of collectivism that may not be relevant in this study:

 

Collectivism broadly refers to the inclination to prioritize a group’s needs over an individual’s concerns, and social scientists have often worked to measure its presence among different populations. The researchers found a culture of collectivism to be a key driver of mask use even after accounting for many other factors, including political orientation, state policies, the severity of Covid-19 outbreaks, and more. 

 

But what if the data provided by government agencies like the CDC, under the control of the capitalist ruling class, are all skewed (paying more to hospitals if they diagnose patients as having Covid-19, pressure on doctors to diagnose patients as having Covid-19, using PCR tests to inflate statistics, to instruct their "news" corporations to plant reports emphasizing the hysteria and fear of a "pandemic", etc.) in order to fake a pandemic? Now this researcher at MIT pleases his bosses and grant agencies with a study based on the above definition. Meanwhile, small businesses are going bankrupt and corporations are reaping record profits. And when some of the plain States are under the control of conservative capitalists who believe in old-fashioned conservative ideas, could we arrive at the same results? 

 

I think this study is a very clever way to reach conclusions that support the existence of a "pandemic" and the various self-serving interests of the current ruling class! (I've seen other studies done to please funding sources.) No doubt this study will be quoted widely by those serving the ruling class to validate their clever project to create a "pandemic".

 

I think that most people have complied with these restrictions on our liberties out of concern for the rest of society, but that doesn't mean they haven't been deceived for nefarious purposes of the ruling class! The study conveniently goes along with all other efforts to wrap the deceivers of the ruling class with virtue. 

 

Considering all the evidence, many were deceived once again as they have been in the past: the assassinations of key figures who wouldn't go along with the aggressive agenda of the ruling class, the so-called "war on drugs", 9/11, the invasion of Iraq, "the war on terrorism", and now this ... that so far is enriching billionaires, putting small businesses into bankruptcy, their employees out of work, and teaching the lessons of obedience to the great "unwashed masses". Could it be that it was the billionaires' plan all along?

What is the point here? It is that this whole ark of military strategy rooted in massive aerial bombardment – reaching back to the 1920s, and pushing forward until today in Gaza, is expiring. It has become obsolescent (at least in the Middle East), just as did trench warfare in the wake of 1918.

Tunnels (now, much more sophisticated ones), have gained renewed life as the answer to massive aerial bombardment on civilian terrain as a prime psychological tool of war. They mark the end of a strategy. Swarm missiles, and smart drone clusters are today’s inflection points: the ‘new’ warfare – just as much a game-changer as was the advent of the longbow (in the 1300s). They have become, as it were, somehow Hamas’, Hizbullah’s, the Houthi’s and Iran’s ‘alt’ Air force.

The U.S. and the Europeans however have no idea what to do about the situation, beyond calling for a return to ‘normality’ – one that permits Israelis ‘to return to the beach’, and the Palestinians ‘to their cage’, as one commentator, caustically remarked about the meaning of ‘normal’.

Were we not so technology obsessed, were we not so greedy, were we not so terrified of insecurity and death, if we did not see our bodies and minds as separate, and humans as separate from everything else, we might pause to ponder whether our approach is not a little misguided.

Science and technology can be wonderful things. They can advance our knowledge of ourselves and the world we inhabit. But they need to be conducted with a sense of humility we increasingly seem incapable of. We are not conquerors of our bodies, or the planet, or the universe – and if we imagine we are, we will soon find out that the battle we are waging is one we can never hope to win.

• Reconsidering the Presidential Election by "The Saker" (Andre Raevsky) from The Unz Review. My commentary follows: 

It looks like Raevsky (and PCR--Paul Craig Roberts) has fallen for the chaos strategy (see my first post on September 4). I think the dominant section of the ruling class is using the strategy to stir-up more chaos, but they have no intention of following through with their threats. Let me explain. 

The capitalist ruling class, or the dominant section of it which now consists of big financiers, deeply resents this upstart as president, but they value their acquisition of wealth more. Their wealth depends on corporate profits so that the latter can pay back the loans that financiers (via The Fed) have so generously supplied them with. This more realistic scenario needs stability, and chaos following the election cannot ensure that. Thus, they will accept the election results even though Trump is the winner--unless they have gone stark raving mad, which is unlikely--but this result is looking more doubtful as we approach the November elections. During the first four years of his administration the dominant section of the ruling class demonstrated that they can work with Trump to accomplish many of their goals.

Of course, for ordinary people the choice is, and has always been under capitalist rule, between the lesser of two evils. Why choose? Simply withhold your vote entirely from either presidential candidate and all of the candidates sponsored by the two parties. The only real solution is revolution!

(Note: There is one glaring typographical error in this essay: the phrase "only to hand it to Moscow for now particular reason." should read "only to hand it to Moscow for no particular reason.")  My reaction: I don't agree with all of his arguments blaming anarchists and pseudo-leftists for the misinformation about Russia, but I totally agree with his description of Russia, the influence of money that has corrupted journalists over the years, and the CIA's infiltration and subsequent control of media corporations. The CIA left journalists with two choices: either you parrot our line and you enjoy a comfortable standard of living (including financing a family) or you earn substandard wages (and not having the resources to raise a family) working for an alternative and independent media organization. This is a very challenging choice to make!

• Belarusian President Lukashenko Says IMF Offered A Billion USD Bribe to Impose Covid-19 Lockdown by Joaquin Flores from FRN (Fort Russ News which is based in Serbia). My reaction: "This fact can be verified using most search engines." I did this and am satisfied that the report is factual: see this, this, and this. This report is another illustration of the use of money to influence how people behave; and in this case, regarding a nation's leader. In many cases, the influence of money applies to politicians who need money to finance their candidacy in government elections, professional people who have careers to protect to support a comfortable lifestyle, and workers who want to protect their jobs that are needed for their, and their families', very survival. Concentrated wealth is promoted under capitalism. The system often leads to decisions that harm most people, but benefit their ruling classes. The system needs to be abolished and substituted for one that promotes egalitarian and thoroughly democratic societies. 

• UK’s MSM has slavishly obeyed the govt over Covid like the docile arm of a despotic state. I know, because I was part of it by Matt Drake from RT. My reaction: Of course the same obedient-like behavior of ordinary people applies to most governments fronted by ruling classes on our planet Earth. I think that this phenomenon is a result of roughly 10,000 years of domination of ruling classes that they have obtained through various forms of violence. This experience has engendered in ordinary people a belief in the superiority of their masters, and that their "superiors" have innate abilities that we ordinary people do not have.  Many of the upper-middle-class, whose support is needed for the current ruling class of capitalists to exist, also are convinced of this through their socialization. Such propaganda is pervasive in class-ridden societies.

We know by now that nothing of this, masks, “cases / infections”, quarantine, lockdown, vaccination, or any other repressive measure have anything to do with covid. They are means and instruments for the New World Order (NWO) to “train” the population for total obedience and control by the invisible super power, or deep dark state. WHO plays a key role in this nefarious plans, as it still is regarded by most people and governments as an authority, as far as world health is concerned which sadly, it has ceased to be decades ago.

• The Carney/Freeland Green Reset Shapes Canada’s ‘New Normal’ by Mathew Ehret from Strategic Culture Foundation. (Note: This is a report and analysis of the events after the "Great Reset" project was adopted by the Empire's Deep State back in June.) My commentary and analysis follows:

I missed this article when it was published online last week largely because I thought it was about Canadians and their issues. But on another website this morning I was convinced that Ehret was addressing not only a parochial Canadian issue, but an issue that worries the transnational capitalist ruling class that governs the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire. Canada is an integral part of the Empire, and this reports on events after the Empire's leaders adopted the "Great Reset" project. This project is mainly designed to stop the Empire's threat from China and its New Silk Road project (aka Belt and Road Initiative) that many nations have already signed onto, including some European nations. However, there several other problems that the transnational ruling capitalist class is confronting, and the current covid-19 pandemic is the chosen method to deal with all of these concerns. It is evident that I am departing from Ehret's formulation which cites Carny and Freeland as the main actors pushing this "Great Reset". But most all, I firmly reject his main conclusion: 

If the world is truly as closed, finite and entropic as the misanthropic minds of an Oxford-trained technocrat like Mark Carney, Chrystia Freeland or David Attenborough, then this sort of post-COVID world order would admittedly be the way to go. 

Our planet is overburdened by capitalist operations which has resulted in over-population, but it is obvious that our, or any, planet has finite resources and environmental limits which no species can exceed. Thus, we can only conclude that Ehret agrees that the "Great Reset" project and capitalism are the best methods/systems that humans can design.  

It is no secret that the Empire is worried about the challenge that independent nations, such as China, Russia, and Iran are posing for their dominance in our overburdened planet. However, they are worried about several other issues: over- population, the unsustainability of the operations under the existing capitalist system, the financial quagmire that they find themselves in, and excessive burdens posed by "useless eaters" such as old and lame people on their nation's treasuries. I firmly believe that the present covid-19 crisis, whether engineered by Empire agents or not (likely it was), has resulted in the "Great Reset" project which is designed to deal with all the above problems. 

It is obvious that the Empire's transnational capitalist ruling class is not concerned about all the onerous effects that their project will impose on workers, but the members are only concerned with all of their problems, and number one is China. It is my opinion that they are using this covid-19 crisis as cover for all of their problems. Using this crisis as cover permits them to impose all kinds of restrictions on their populations which in normal times would be illegal and unconstitutional.

The social-democratic Zuesse must have had a very difficult time in dealing with this subject. I note that he references Jim Crow laws only once. This is much before the FDR administration that he so idolizes as an ideal America. He writes: 

The U.S. Constitution is by now just a string of words. America’s Founders are dead, gone, and no longer really even an influence. That’s the reality. 

In its original form the Constitution when it was written by "America's Founders" (often reverentially referred to as "Founding Fathers") favored the rich property owners. Contrast the latter document with the Declaration of Independence also written by "America's Founders" when they wanted citizens to take up arms for their cause of independence from Britain. Quite a difference, indeed! You see, the British government put up obstacles for the "Founding Fathers" in the form of taxes and restrictions on enterprises that would compete with British manufacturers.  

The "Founding Fathers" were overwhelmingly property owners of slaves who needed the latter to provide the labor to make them rich, never intended to include the "Bill of Rights". This was only forced upon them by citizens of the 13 colonies. And indeed, they never expected their militias and police forces to abide by the Bill of Rights. Police forces are the last defense against the people who are feared by all ruling classes. After nearly 150 years, this ruling class used the capitalist system to accumulate ownership and control over nearly all of the USA and much of the world. The crimes committed here by our masters are multiplied by at least a factor of 10 throughout much of the world.

Thus, I recommend only reading the first two paragraphs of the essay. The rest is absolute social-democratic rubbish.

My commentary follows:

Raevsky is clearly the best informed writer on the web who understands what is going on in Belarus. The Empire is using their color-revolution strategies to subvert the Belarus's government and co-opt many opposition groups by funding the latter. I cannot understand why the opposing independent nations cannot come up with appropriate defense against these color revolutions. One would think that the Russian and Belarus leadership, after the Ukraine experience, would have devised effective counter strategies to prevent this from happening especially in a border state like Belarus.

Apparently only genuine democratic nations (instead of fake democracies) can withstand these strategies, but these nations have not yet appeared and I doubt that they will appear before climate destabilization puts an end to humans and most other species. If indeed by a miracle such nations did appear in the time remaining, it would still be too late to save humanity because climate destabilization has already set in. But this miraculous event would served to redeem (def) the human species for their roughly 10, 000 years of acceptance of self-serving ruling class societies.

• Defund Fascism, Blue and Orange by Paul Street from CounterPunch. My commentary follows:

Although Street gives an accurate description of the largely colored underclass (but not exclusively so) of capitalist America, he ignores the indispensable part that fascism plays in capitalism to deal with the problem of surplus workers that is an integral part of capitalist rule. This I think largely comes from a misunderstanding of fascism which confuses many people in the USA. (This is not an accident: capitalist ideological agents carefully craft propaganda to confuse people on this subject and many others.)

Fascism is basically an attitude that encourages coercion in one form or another. The fundamental source of this attitude is from the capitalist morality as described by Margaret Thatcher: looking only to the welfare of the individual and of one's family:

 ...you know, there's no such thing as society. There are individual men and women and there are families. And no government can do anything except through people, and people must look after themselves first.

Therefore fascist methods are employed to deal with capitalist's main antagonists (the unemployed, poverty stricken, etc, (and let us not forget other competitive capitalists), and they can range from the threat of violence to indirect forms by controlling jobs and careers (traditionally favored by capitalists) to controlling the narratives (including censorship) that shape people's understanding of issues. (Caitlin Johnstone writes extensively about the latter subject.) Nowadays the three are combined in various combinations.
