My brief commentary follows: 

I have been through all this before with the assassinations of the Kennedys, Malcolm X, Martin L. King, 9/11, the invasion of Iraq, etc. All the dissenting reports were heavily censored combined with media corporations promoting the official views. I have long concluded that these crimes were committed by a fascist clique in the US ruling capitalist class devoted to building a powerful, world-dominating, capitalist empire combining the military might of the USA with what was left of the British Empire following WWII. Israel, and Zionist financial power, was added later.

• 💥Propaganda and the Media – Deception on a Grand Scale – Part 2 by Larry Romanoff from "The Saker Blog". This is a best post. (Note: Romanoff analyses Empire propaganda for what it is: another weapon in the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire's quest to dominate the world. First, he devotes considerable space to treat how the propaganda machine works against China, next in Mexico, and finally in the implied Empire's capture of the WHO and their sterilization efforts of the developing countries.) 

It is important to keep in mind that ‘the media’ is not some amorphous, inanimate object but a group of real people with names, who plan, script and conduct these propaganda campaigns. I have had encounters with some of these ‘reporters’ and ‘columnists’. Many of them qualify as gangsters, acting as front men for a criminal enterprise, using their public power to shield and defend those who should be imprisoned and trashing anyone who stands in their way.

In contrast to hearing much media noise on a topic, we sometimes have only a deafening silence which is equally a guarantee of propaganda, this time in the form of censorship. When the entire Western media unanimously have no comment on an important current topic, we can be certain that much has happened behind the scenes to ensure this result.

Johnstone writes in the article "Someone who says it’s human nature to be selfish, competitive, predatory, exploitative, tyrannical, vicious, brutish and violent isn’t telling you about human nature, they’re telling you about their own nature." Maybe so, but she apparently doesn't yet realize that the capitalist system is based on this view of human nature. Capitalists, and those unwitting people that support them, likely wouldn't dare admit to the negative characteristics but would swear that people are basically selfish. Thus, they would go on to support the capitalist system either completely oblivious to the more negative consequent behaviors listed above and would offer absurd rationalizations for them.

We are fed propaganda to cover-up the heinous crimes the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire commits directly or indirectly. Read a current post entitled The True Story of the Rwandan Genocide from Current Affairs for an example of a major crime (a massacre of at least 500,000 people). This is about who really was responsible for what has been "universally acknowledged as one of the worst atrocities of the 20th century".

It focuses on lessons that have been learned by every generation since the Vietnam War, and must be relearned by current activists at an accelerated pace if the protests are to be effective.

• How Exceptional America Is by Eric Zuesse from Strategic Culture Foundation. My reaction: Zuesse often uses the feudal word "aristocracy" for a ruling class partially in order to be published in liberal-left websites, but mostly because he was indoctrinated by many years of education in the USA to absolutely avoid any writing that is associated with Marxist thought. You see, Marxism is verboten in the USA and throughout most of the the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire. "Marxian" can only be used by professors to indicate that they only have an academic interest in Marxist ideology. This is part of the Empire's indoctrination program to control and prevent thought that does not favor a capitalist system, a system founded on private ownership. Public ownership and control of an economy is blasphemous to this capitalist religion. Still, as a critic of US policies, his writings are valuable to read.

How to distinguish the authentic from the artificial, factitious (artificially created) and makeshift needs? The last ones are induced by mental manipulation, i.e. advertisement. The advertising system has invaded all spheres of human life in modern capitalist societies: not only food and clothing, but sports, culture, religion and politics are shaped according to its rules. It has invaded our streets, mail boxes, TV-screens, newspapers, landscapes, in a permanent, aggressive and insidious way, and it decisively contributes to habits of conspicuous and compulsive consumption. Moreover, it wastes an astronomical amount of oil, electricity, labour time, paper, chemicals, and other raw materials - all paid by the consumers - in a branch of “production” which is not only useless, from a human viewpoint, but directly in contradiction with real social needs. While advertisement is an indispensable dimension of the capitalist market economy, it would have no place in a society in transition to socialism, where it would be replaced by information on goods and services provided by consumer associations. The criteria for distinguishing an authentic from an artificial need, is its persistence after the suppression of advertisement (Coca Cola!). Of course, during some years, old habits of consumption would persist, and nobody has the right to tell the people what their needs are. The change in the patterns of consumption is a historical process, as well as an educational challenge.

This report is another illustration of the use of money to influence how people behave; and in this case, regarding a nation's leader. In many cases, the influence of money applies to politicians who need money to finance their candidacy in government elections, professional people who have careers to protect to support a comfortable lifestyle, and workers who want to protect their jobs that are needed for their, and their families', very survival. Concentrated wealth is promoted under capitalism. The system often leads to decisions that harm most people, but benefit their ruling classes. The system needs to be abolished and substituted for one that promotes egalitarian and thoroughly democratic societies. 

• UK’s MSM has slavishly obeyed the govt over Covid like the docile arm of a despotic state. I know, because I was part of it by Matt Drake from RT. My reaction: Of course the same obedient-like behavior of ordinary people applies to most governments fronted by ruling classes on our planet Earth. I think that this phenomenon is a result of roughly 10,000 years of domination of ruling classes that they have obtained through various forms of violence. This experience has engendered in ordinary people a belief in the superiority of their masters, and that their "superiors" have innate abilities that we ordinary people do not have.  Many of the upper-middle-class, whose support is needed for the current ruling class of capitalists to exist, also are convinced of this through their socialization. Such propaganda is pervasive in class-ridden societies.

Bevins has learned much about a key event in the establishment of the transnational capitalist (US, Anglo, Zionist) Empire from his research and employment at the LA Times and as a foreign correspondent for the Washington Post, two of the mainstream media corporation complex. But his knowledge has only been obtained 50-60 years after the event which resulted in a million lives lost and another million locked up concentration camps in Indonesia after the CIA coup against President Sukarno. At the time I and a few other anti-capitalist activists knew sparse details of this massacre from reading left-wing publications. We obtained only superficial and propaganda-laced "knowledge" from mainstream corporate media.

The point is this: Much of the foreign crimes of the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire have been covered up, and it takes years of research and foreign travel to piece together the details of this horrendous history of the Empire. Now we face similar events in the USA, but now the agents of this Empire have gained so much successful experience lying to, and censoring information from, ordinary people that they are at a considerable disadvantage. The social-democratic Zuesse emailed me about five years ago to denigrate my website. Since then I've witnessed one exemplary article after another authored by him. He is now using his skills as a trained historian to uncover the many secrets of the military-industrial complex that is a key component of the transnational capitalist US/Anglo/Zionist Empire. Hopefully, he will evolve into a hardcore anti-capitalist and socialist.

• Defund the Police, Defund the Military by Medea Benjamin and Nicolas J. S. Davies from Dissident Voice. My reaction is as follows:

I especially like the following paragraph:

Americans are getting a small taste of the fire and fury that the U.S. military and its allies inflict on people overseas on a regular basis from Iraq and Afghanistan to Yemen and Palestine, and the intimidation felt by the people of Iran, Venezuela, North Korea and other countries that have long lived under U.S. threats to bomb, attack or invade them.

Hopefully young people in particular during their confinement to their homes and that of their parents while not having distracting entertainment have become aware of the crimes committed by our ruling class in foreign countries.

I've seen this development over the past five years. I think it is inevitable that the capitalist employed agents of the management of news and information, just as they have done to corporate media, would try to take over Wikipedia. My reaction: The author explains how the ruling capitalist class is running out of options to contain the resistance of poverty-stricken people that is an integral part of capitalist rule. But, at this late date is social-democracy a realistic option that Kavanagh seems to favor? Is social-democracy, capitalism with a more human face, a bias of CounterPunch (because the core administrators of this website live off of the ownership of stocks, bonds, etc.)? My answers: "no!" to the first question, and "yes!" to the second. But, the more important question is: what will the ruling class do to contain the new resistance that has appeared following the George Floyd protests? Could they be desperate enough to use the armageddon option--a nuclear war? I have no answers to these questions.

• Manipulating the Message: Police Attacks on Free Press and the Fencing in of Humanity by Raul Diego from Mint Press News.

• Tucker: Black Lives Matter is now a political party featuring Tucker Carlson of Fox News (via YouTube) giving his commentary regarding the growing movement by the new resistance to defund police departments all across the USA. He omits any need felt by the new resistance to construct new police departments that serve the people. My commentary follows:

Carlson represents a more authoritarian faction of the ruling capitalist class, and he, of course, regards this as "insane". The existing militarized police agencies have a history of serving the defense of the capitalist class to contain any opposition from ordinary people and to carry out their racist policies that served to divide and conquer the working class. This is a redline issue for the ruling class, much like the right to own guns that must not be crossed. But this is also a fundamental issue for the new resistance to get the police out of all instiutions--particulary the schools. So, it will be very interesting to see what happens to this effort to abolish the existing police organizations across America.

• Anti-Communism is a Fundamentalist Religion, Now Followed by Billions by Andre Vltchek from New Eastern Outlook. (Note: I must thank an activist, Caren, for alerting me to this post.) My commentary follows:

Not only anti-Communism is a religion, but capitalism is as well. Unlike Vltchek, I was thoroughly indoctrinated in capitalism having been born and raised in the USA. But I was exposed to other versions of political reality in my young adult years. So I gradually became immune to the incessant propaganda that I was subject to the rest of my life. Because I had doubts in 1959 and subsequent years about what I was told to believe about Cuba and its revolution, and I sought out obscure periodicals in the library at a university that I was attending. These provided a very different version of political reality regarding their revolution. Since then, I uncovered one lie after another while being subject to an incessant, 24/7 propaganda barrage disparaging communism (a Marxist variant on the theme of socialism) and celebrating the fake version of "democracy" which I soon discovered as the bourgeous or capitalist version of democracy. I became convinced that capitalism was the root cause of so many social problems.

However Vltchek never directly answered the question posed early in his article in a quote apparently by his friend Aleksandr Buzgalin: “How is it possible that a system so logical, progressive, and so superior to what is, up till now, governing the world, failed to permanently overthrow the nihilism and brutality of capitalism, imperialism and neo-colonialism?” Obviously he lays the blame on capitalist propaganda. But, what would you expect other than their use of propaganda together with all other weapons at their disposal in order to destroy a system that was a major threat to capitalist rule?

I have since studied this question and have concluded that the Soviet Union was so damaged after their revolution in 1917 due to foreign invasions and trade boycotts by capitalist countries that they soon succumbed to a self-serving bureaucracy led by Joseph Stalin, and from which they never recovered. In effect, a bureaucratic ruling class was established. In addition, Lenin and his Bolsheviks knew that in order to succeed, other revolutions needed to occur in advanced capitalist countries which did not happen because they were crushed by the capitalist ruling classes.

Now I would answer this question by stating that "a system so logical, progressive, and so superior" to capitalism is no guarantee that it will survive and thrive. Even if the USSR had anything like a real communism, history has offered proof of this. I think that a communist system might still succeed if humans had a future beyond a century with the (doubtful) assumption that humans could avert a catastrophic nuclear war. But they do not. Because capitalist activities have so polluted our skies, oceans, and trees with greenhouse gases, the human species has insured its own extinction within a few decades. 

Karl Marx got one thing wrong--the inevitability of communism for the salvation of humans. Why should humans unlike all other species have this quality of endurance?

Texts show Portland police collaborated with hate group

A rare find involving text communication between a police lieutenant and a local fascist group, Patriot Prayer, and published by a local Portland (OR) newspaper, Willamette Weekly, is an illustration of the functions of police to protect the ruling capitalist class. Whenever the ruling class is threatened they turn to violent groups to salvage their rule. The classic example of this is in the Great Depression of the 1930s when numerous workers' parties sprung up all over the West. Many US and other European capitalists supported and funded the Nazi Party in Germany. (See also my commentary here for an elaboration in history of this tendency.)

McNalley offers an excellent general observation that the Portland incident illustrates:

These events speak to the historically prevalent trend in the United States of police forces working hand-in-hand with the ultra-right. This is evident from the history of policing as an institution in this country, including their origins as slave catchers and union busters, the coordinated attacks on the Black liberation movement, and the continued over-policing of peaceful protests at Standing Rock and of the Black Lives Matter movement. The police do not exist to protect the people. The police exist to protect the interests of the ruling class and the capitalist system that keeps the majority of people marginalized and oppressed. To that end, they will continue to join forces with violent reactionary groups like PP [Patriot Prayer] who uphold the status quo through force and intimidation. Only by overturning the capitalist system can we hope to effectively and permanently end the threat posed to our communities by groups like PP and the police forces that enable and support them. Macron Tactics Against Yellow Vests Have Nothing to Do with Public Safety, Everything to Do with Global Politics

This independent British journalist brings her cameras to show us via her photos and videos what it is like on the battlefields of the streets of France. The capitalist government is obviously at war with the Gilets Jaunes who represent a cross section of ordinary people of France. The governments forces have added more vicious weapons to their arsenal, and their strategies reflect a desire to punish French people for protesting government policies that support the rich at their expense.

PARIS (Analysis)  — “For more than two months the people who come out into the streets are met with governmental repression. Since the 17th November 2018 we have been on the streets but we have not been listened to.” The statement from the Yellow Vests —  or Gilets Jaunes (GJs) as they are better known in France — was published just before Saturday February 2, 2019, when tens of thousands of GJs took to the streets of cities nationwide for Acte XII (Week 12) of the protests that have been a weekly event since they first began on November 17, 2018.

The GJ movement has taken France by storm since its sudden appearance after the increasingly unpopular President Emmanuel Macron introduced a number of measures that appeared to protect the French wealthy elite while penalising those already on the brink of poverty. The increase in the fuel tax was the final straw that broke the back of the already pressurized population struggling to make ends meet every month.

Beeley sums up what her cameras cannot show--the significance of these mass protests:

I saw environmental activists, anarchists, women’s rights movements, animal rights groups, human rights groups marching side by side. I heard animated political discussions among protesters and I saw children carried aloft on their parents shoulders blowing whistles and participating in an event that will surely shape their future. The march was a riot of color. For the first time in a very long time I felt a sense of optimism and belief in the power of the “little people” to reverse the tide of globalism and capitalist adventurism that is sweeping our world. As one of the posters for Acte XII stated: “The powerful will only stop dominating us when the little people stop crawling.”
