There is no misunderstanding by the US directors of the transnational US/Anglo/Zionist Empire. Any nation that pursues an independent course and tries to create a multilateral world is an enemy of the Empire. This Empire seeks world dominance much like the British Empire before it. That is why after WWII with its industry intact, the US Deep State saw their opportunity to establish an empire. It is in the very nature of capitalism to grow, and the US capitalists saw their opportunity to expand after the main belligerents of WWII, Great Britain, the Third Reich of Nazi Germany, and the Japanese Empire, were defeated or left in ruins. They united with British imperialists and what was left of the
British Empire, and eventually allowed Zionists to join them after Israel proved
its loyalty and effectiveness to the Empire.
Immediately after WWII US and British propaganda machinery went into action and started what became known as a "Cold War". Since then until 1989 the archenemy was the Soviet Union, which alone
pursued a kind of socialist government, and other nations
wishing to be independent: Indonesia, Vietnam, Nicaragua, Iran, Angola, Granada, etc. During this period nations were forced into two camps: that of the Empire or the Soviet Union. The latter nation eventually collapsed starting in 1989 under the weight of a self-serving bureaucracy.
To the consternation of the directors of the Empire, under the leadership of Putin Russia reestablished themselves with a mixed economy and pursued an independent course in international affairs. We have since seen other nations, most especially China and Iran, join them in challenging the Empire's control over the world, and together these nations have pursued a genuine multi-national world free of the domination of the Empire. As a result, currently we see the Empire's propaganda organs, media corporations, frame the latter nations as our enemies.

When is the News Not the News? – #PropagandaWatch

Today I received this report via email from Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth, a partner of the University of Alaska (Fairbanks), because I am on their email list. Because it is easiest to dispute of all the lies about the destruction of the World Trade Center (WTC) and the Pentagon, both organizations are challenging the official story of 9/11 regarding the collapse of building #7 of the WTC.
Corbett's limited perspective is a libertarian (American version of that term) which is somewhat different than what the term means in Europe and beyond. Consulting Wikepedia I discovered all kinds of libertarians. I think Corbett's view (even though he is Canadian--Canada is a part of the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire) can be described accordingly as "Individualist anarchism in the United States". His "libertarian" views simply sees, and often reacts negatively to, official authorities which is a very superficial view of government authorities. Likewise his analysis of the banning of the U. of Alaska report by media corporations, is very limited. He can only see some hidden hand which he refers to as "propagandists" who decide on what news is suitable for us to consume. That's it!
I have tried, and largely failed, to influence those who I have personally associated with throughout my long life and those who have wandered onto my website. I have urged them to have a more in-depth view of things by considering a Marxist-influenced take on contemporary global politics. This means taking an historical class structure point of view which is so unfashionable in today's America and throughout much of the capitalist transnational Empire.
I admit, along with many others, failing to raise the political consciousness of my fellow Americans because of the influence of the powerful and ubiquitous nature of propaganda under the control of our ruling capitalist class. Our masters in this class have thoroughly indoctrinated Americans and much of the world in their view of not only current events, but historical events as well. They have accomplished this with their methods of pervasive mind control, that is, through the use of comprehensive indoctrination, propaganda, fake news, false flags, etc, by agents of the capitalist ruling classes in the Empire.
Also, I dispute Corbett's use of "social construct" as describing the official lies spread by our masters and their corporations since 9/11/2001. The term is defined as "an idea that has been created and accepted by the people in a society". This official version is a private construct. Only a class structure point of view reveals this meaning. Even in his video, he strongly suggests that specific people such as corporate editors decide what is news, and elsewhere he identifies them as simply "propagandists". But he fails to attribute this to a ruling class. I think Corbett is also a victim of the Empire's comprehensive use of indoctrination and propaganda.

“History is written by the victors.”, a wise quote attributed to various people. But not only history, and not only victors in a classic war--a ruling class is also a kind of victor: over the other classes. A ruling class puts its stamp on everything: above all culture (art, literature, history), education, media, etc.
Nowadays the power of the ruling capitalist class has such control of technology--they "own" all of it--that their control and influence shapes nearly everything in an unprecedented scale. Carley only takes issue with current "history" as recently expressed by Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada. The latter's version of history is the history permitted in all parts of today's US/Anglo/Zionist Empire, and ordinary people in addition to our masters in the ruling class subscribe (def.#1) to it. It is a fake history. A true history can be re-constructed by reading reports of contemporaries (of that period of history) who did not identify with the ruling classes.
Carley, a Canadian intellectual andMarxist scholar historian, corrects only some of the history of WWII, an event that has had profound influence on world political affairs today. Because I have read considerable literature, reports, and research about what led to this major war, I thoroughly endorse Carley's version of this part of history.
Because he couldn't write a comprehensive history of this war in a single article, I am concerned that his brief references to Winston Churchill, Prime Minister of the British Empire during WWII, will lead people to believe positive feelings regarding his role. Churchill was a classic British imperialist. His only concern preceding and throughout the war was the preservation of the British Empire. Germany was a competitor. Immediately after the war, he led the efforts to gather support for his other obsession: hostility to the Soviet Union. The Soviets tried to establish a non-capitalist nation.

“There Are Reasons for Optimism” – Chomsky on Brazil, Fascism, US Politics

Because I have expressed my views in articles I have posted in the past, both positive (see this and this) and negative (see this, this, and this), regarding Noam Chomsky's role on the political left in US politics, I won't add much to the critique in this post except to argue that his legacy's influence as a left gatekeeper lives on in the thinking of John Nichols and apparently in the people at Defend Democracy Press.
Chomsky's early life apparently had an indelible effect on his understanding of fascism. It appears that he doesn't recognize the upgraded version of fascism as fascism, but this is acceptable only if one takes a superficial of the concept. The central theme of fascism is control (of others, domination). The earlier version focused mainly on physical methods of intimidation and arbitrary authoritarian legal procedures that was typical of the Nazi's Third Reich. In contrast, the upgraded version relies heavily, but not exclusively, on methods of pervasive mind control, that is, through the use of comprehensive indoctrination, propaganda, fake news, false flags, etc, by agents of the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire. The difference is largely one of methods.
One of Chomsky's remarks in the interview elicited my close attention: his answer to the question "Was it clear to you that a greater war [WWII] was coming?" His mention of the "State Department" as one of the sites where discussions were commonly talked about regarding the coming war particularly drew my attention. While recently reading As He Saw It by Elliott Roosevelt (1946), he quoted his father's disparaging remarks about the State Department that suggested he didn't trust them based on his experience with members of this government department. This evoked a rather vague memory that I've gathered a number of years ago from readings that referred to the State Department as being militantly right-wing.
I have argued elsewhere in this blog that a largely secret resurgence of fascist-sympathetic capitalists came "out of the woodwork" (def.) following the article "American Century" published by Henry Luce of Time magazine in February, 1941. I have a hunch that they mostly ensconced themselves in this government department. The famous CIA director, Allen Dulles, was one of them. [If anyone reading this blog has sources which reveal any information about this, please let me know via email (goatmeal36@yahoo.com)]. I've also read some remarks in Bruce Cumings' The Origins of the Korean War (2 volumes) which stated that various figures in the State Department actively supported containment and rollback policies against Soviet Union and its satellites shortly after WWII.

Although born in Belgium, he emigrated to Canada in 1976 where he earned a doctorate degree in political science, taught as a professor at several universities in Canada, and has written numerous books mostly in European languages. I presume he is now retired. Because the name is only vaguely familiar to me, I did a search for more information on this author. Here is what I found. A translation of the Wikipedia entry on him (via DeepL translation) is as follows:
Because Pauwels did not furnish any references to support his assertions and because of the lack of information regarding this author by CounterPunch, I had to waste precious time researching who this guy was and his qualifications (initially I thought this was only a review of historian Michael Jabara Carley's book). Clearly the post was about his very informed views about WWII and specifically the title of the article: The Hitler-Stalin Pact of August 23, 1939: Myth and Reality.
Like many academics both in Western countries, Pauwels was aware of this true history that contradicted the many mythical histories that we ordinary people have been subject to in Western countries. These mythical histories were propagated through all institutions: press media, radio, TV, schools and universities, online media, and Hollywood films. But our ruling class discouraged academics and others telling what they knew by impeding their careers. This was done overtly during the McCarthy period beginning with the House Unamerican Activities Committee (HUAC) attacks on Hollywood producters. Then they went on to attack academics, writers, and others. Many lost their jobs or succumbed to this pressure by keeping their mouths shut. Public school teachers had to swear loyalty oaths.
I notice that Pauwels' books were originally published since 2005 and in foreign languages, and only one has been later published in English. The answer to why this is so and Counterpunch's scant coverage of his qualifications is part of the general cover-up on the true history of WWII by the ruling capitalist classes. The latter were so sympathetic to the Nazi regime to the extent that they initially very likely collaborated with the Nazi's and their plans to invade the Soviet Union. It was only after the phony war when Nazi Germany turned their weapons against Britain that the allies formed to prevent the German Empire's threat to the British Empire.
In contrast to Counterpunch's careless posting of Pauwels' article, Global Research based in Canada, has posted numerous articles written by him.
Probably because I became aware as a young adult that authorities in my life had frequently lied to me about so many important subjects, I have since read many books by authors who knew first-hand about WWII. I can attest to the accuracy of nearly all statements made by Pauwels in this article. I say "nearly all" because some of the details he revealed, like Polish politics at the time, I have not covered in my readings.
Our masters in the current capitalist ruling class have gone on to give a completely fake reports of nearly every event that might impact their rule (even contrived false-flag events). This has resulted confusion, doubts, and ignorance in ordinary Americans about so many important contemporary issues.

In contrast to Counterpunch's careless posting of Pauwels' article, Global Research based in Canada, has posted numerous articles written by him.
Probably because I became aware as a young adult that authorities in my life had frequently lied to me about so many important subjects, I have since read many books by authors who knew first-hand about WWII. I can attest to the accuracy of nearly all statements made by Pauwels in this article. I say "nearly all" because some of the details he revealed, like Polish politics at the time, I have not covered in my readings.
Our masters in the current capitalist ruling class have gone on to give a completely fake reports of nearly every event that might impact their rule (even contrived false-flag events). This has resulted confusion, doubts, and ignorance in ordinary Americans about so many important contemporary issues.

Ruling class magazine censors all articles covering the Epstein scandals

While reading Whitney Webb's excellent article this morning, the thought occurred to me that I should look at the coverage of the Epstein scandals by Vanity Fair, the monthly magazine that the rich ruling class like to read because their coverage is largely devoted to flattering them, their culture, and the latest gossip among members of their class.
Recall that I commented on the use of censorship to identify the coverage of events that our ruling capitalist class wants us to know (whether engineered or not). Also, in my post of Brenner's article he was astounded by the coverage provided by media corporations of the Epstein scandals:

Ultimately these memories and Voss's article led me inexorably to examining Vanity Fair's coverage of this scandal. I looked first in their August online issue and then on their September issue which has just come out. Nada! (def.#4) It appears that because Epstein had so many friends in the ruling class that they chose not to embarrass them by (not) covering this major scandal.

My answer will provide a key answer to most of the world's problems, and the Epstein story, and the way it is being handled, will provide an excellent illustration of the primacy of social-economic class.
The factor of social-economic class determines so much of our existence, and accounts for so many problems we are faced with. That is precisely why ordinary people, after grasping the real nature of their problems, have gone on to organize revolutions against their ruling classes. And, this is the fundamental reason why academics, promoted by the ruling class, have frequently aided in the suppression of this factor.
The French Revolution and the Russian Revolution are prime examples. Both were ultimately contaminated within and destroyed from without. In the former case, the revolution was directed against the aristocracy and monarchy. The French Revolution contained the embryonic capitalist class of people who, with their superior education and skills, eventually dominated the revolution and took control of it. This class were also aided by Germany, who invaded France during the Revolution. In the case of the Russian Revolution, the new socialist revolutionaries were hampered by the necessity of relying upon educated/trained people, who had largely aristocratic and bourgeois class affiliations, in government positions. But a major factor in the ultimate deterioration of their Revolution was the constant opposition by the existing capitalist nations, including military invasions. This resulted in a deformed ruling class of bureaucrats, and eventually led to the collapse of the socialist experiment in the Soviet Union. To sum up, history during the past roughly 10,000 years has been overwhelmingly determined by class struggles. This view is the contribution of Marxists whose teachings have been thoroughly suppressed contemporary capitalist societies for obvious reasons.
This Epstein event furnishes us with a prime example of this phenomenon. Benner's exposes the startling inconsistency of treatment in this crime which involved members of the ruling class. The legitimate issue of inequality regarding certain segments (women, gender identity, etc.) of contemporary societies have been used by the ruling capitalist class primarily as distractions from the recent gross crimes committed by the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire. Because Epstein served the ruling class by furnishing them with overt and virtual sex slaves, such crimes have been ignored in past; and if they succeed with the Epstein event, they will quash any substantive punishment for those members of the ruling class who participated in these crimes.

Shamir uses the insightful concept invented by Malcolm X (Google which "owns" YouTube has removed a better video) to explain how and why ordinary people often identify with their oppressors. It's because it pays well in terms of wages, careers, perks, etc. I don't for a minute refuse to acknowledge that there are legitimate reasons that motivate some of the Hong Kong protesters (as the WSWS website has done); but if they think that aligning themselves with the powerful Hong Kong billionaires will ultimately be good for them, they are severely deluded. There are always legitimate reasons for some members of the working class to join these protests, and subversive agents of the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire always cynically use such reasons to recruit people to participate in protests.
Nowadays, one of the ways to identify such cynical actions by our masters is to notice which events their media corporations cover. When they provided so much coverage of the "color revolutions" in Egypt, Ukraine, and the rest, they did this because the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire's subversive organizations, like their CIA and NGOs, wanted to destabilize such countries and install more favorable regimes in terms of the geopolitical interests of the capitalist Empire. Hence there has been no coverage in major media (that I've seen) about the 40 weeks of ongoing protests in France against the austerity measures of that government, but there has been extensive coverage of the Hong Kong protests for obvious reasons.

Woodstock and the American counter-culture

I was astonished at the accuracy of the description of the American counter-culture that grew out of the Beat culture of the 1950s and continued with the hippie culture throughout the 70s and a bit beyond. (I was near or in San Francisco for much of the hippie counter-culture scene.) I, who had been influenced by Marxist writers, often wondered about how this essentially cultural movement could be harnessed to challenge the existing class structure in the USA. As it turned out, the civil rights and anti-Vietnam War movements only radicalized some fringe movements like the Black Panthers and Weather Underground.
It seems now, which I often suspected then, that the ruling capitalist class was sufficiently powerful to contain this counter-cultural rebellion within certain limits. Certainly the Anti-Vietnam War Movement was somewhat helpful in bringing the war to an end, but that is the extent that imperialist capitalist ruling class was thwarted in the USA. Most of the energy that fueled this movement was the draft which at that time required every young man to participate in the war, except for those with draft deferments.
One must keep in mind that after WWII the very intact US economy was booming, and our ruling class shared its benefits, to a limited extent, with its worker wage-slaves. During the Vietnam War, in order to pacify US citizens, our masters sustained our economy with the Guns and Butter program. However, the Vietnam War nearly bankrupted the nation after our capitalist masters lost this costly effort to re-establish the US Empire's domination of southeast Asia. But under the growing US/Anglo/Zionist Empire and their neoliberal strategy, our masters survived and flourished, and went on to fill our atmosphere with carbon and commit many other crimes against humanity in their mad pursuit of profits and power.
Such a historical view influenced me recently to view the movement of human history as being primarily materialist in the philosophical sense (this was what Marx was trying to do). Over my lifetime I was primarily interested in determining the reality of our class system of capitalism in order to use it to attack the system and liberate a true democracy. But this was an idealist view of reality. Now using a materialist view of human events suggests that human extinction is the inevitable fate of humans. Because the operations of capitalist countries, mostly under the domination of the Empire, has so loaded the Earth's atmosphere with carbon that despite any efforts that humans might make in the future, I'm convinced this fate is now baked-in (def.). Fortunately, I won't be around to see most of the calamities that lie ahead.

You will automatically see that the talking head performs his assignment well by constantly asking red-baiting questions and interrupting Hallam who tries to answer them.
The questions of BBC's talking head--it doesn't matter what is name is because there are thousands of working people who are willing to sell their soul and their children's future by taking his place in order to enjoy a decent salary and perks--are filled with all kinds of capitalist ruling class sorts of language in order to impose a false meaning on reality: "democracy" as the nature of our governance and leading questions which might provoke answers that will discredit Hallam in the eyes of people who have been thoroughly indoctrinated (inoculated) against any kind of ideas that might threaten capitalism.
As an employee (wage slave of the ruling class) the talking head is directed to do this in defense of the ruling class's exclusive rights of ownership of economic property (capitalism) versus the survival needs of the powerless wage slaves. It is clear that our masters in the ruling class are so thoroughly addicted to power and wealth, which act like powerful drugs, that they must suppress such voices as Hallam in the ruling class's fake version of democracy (bourgeois democracy).

Those of us who oppose these criminals – and there are growing numbers all over the world – must avoid being sucked into the establishment narratives and the counter-narratives they spawn or create. Brave New Money: PayPal, WeChat, Amazon Go - A Totalitarian World Currency in the Making (updated)

I am only posting one of the two part articles today, and will be posting the second part tomorrow. I can't say I understood everything he writes, probably because English is a second language for him, but I think he is one of the few who are concerned about developments that already are underway using digital money plus surveillance technology.
Because I am on Häring's email list, I received this article and several others. I encourage others who are concerned about this issue to do likewise--and, in my opinion, every thinking person should be concerned. Because money in its current form in the USA has mostly enabled our capitalist ruling class to maintain control over it. Of course, because the latter have so obscured the meaning of money and issues concerned with it, much like all other similar issues, they want us to remain in ignorance. But Häring, who will not tolerate this ignorance, alerts us on how these new development using digital money and surveillance technology very likely will have negative consequences for ordinary people.
I think these developments are very much going on under the radar of ordinary people's consciousness. I rarely have seen it addressed elsewhere, and I think it clearly represents a dramatic move toward all the horrible futures scenarios imagined by George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, the Wachowskis and their film The Matrix, and similar science fiction works. Such scenarios are now on their way to being implemented in the leading capitalist nations as well as in China.
Digitization of money combined with the recent technological advances in surveillance are making these nightmarish scenarios possible and so appealing to our ruling masters. Because this new money is so convenient for us, we like it. But it comes loaded with the convenience of capturing all sorts of information about us and several other abuses. It appears that it matters not whether ruling classes are capitalist or shortsighted Chinese Communists because the digitization of money has the potential of giving them overwhelming control over us. Control and domination seem to be the most sought after drugs by, and for, ruling classes to get "high" (def.). Häring seems to be one of the few who are concerned about the adverse consequences for us.
I am convinced that only a thoroughly democratic society could use this new digital money, and we are a long way from accomplishing that. But since "we're all gonna die anyway", why worry? The destabilization of the climate will soon do the job for us, and a short-time later, the ruling classes (their fantasies about escaping to another planet are simply that--fantasies). Unlike our present societies and all wars, climate destabilization and/or a global nuclear war, will ignore inequality.
I am only posting one of the two part articles today, and will be posting the second part tomorrow. I can't say I understood everything he writes, probably because English is a second language for him, but I think he is one of the few who are concerned about developments that already are underway using digital money plus surveillance technology.
Because I am on Häring's email list, I received this article and several others. I encourage others who are concerned about this issue to do likewise--and, in my opinion, every thinking person should be concerned. Because money in its current form in the USA has mostly enabled our capitalist ruling class to maintain control over it. Of course, because the latter have so obscured the meaning of money and issues concerned with it, much like all other similar issues, they want us to remain in ignorance. But Häring, who will not tolerate this ignorance, alerts us on how these new development using digital money and surveillance technology very likely will have negative consequences for ordinary people.
I think these developments are very much going on under the radar of ordinary people's consciousness. I rarely have seen it addressed elsewhere, and I think it clearly represents a dramatic move toward all the horrible futures scenarios imagined by George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, the Wachowskis and their film The Matrix, and similar science fiction works. Such scenarios are now on their way to being implemented in the leading capitalist nations as well as in China.
Digitization of money combined with the recent technological advances in surveillance are making these nightmarish scenarios possible and so appealing to our ruling masters. Because this new money is so convenient for us, we like it. But it comes loaded with the convenience of capturing all sorts of information about us and several other abuses. It appears that it matters not whether ruling classes are capitalist or shortsighted Chinese Communists because the digitization of money has the potential of giving them overwhelming control over us. Control and domination seem to be the most sought after drugs by, and for, ruling classes to get "high" (def.). Häring seems to be one of the few who are concerned about the adverse consequences for us.

Corporate media after the latest shooting incidents is driving people nuts in the USA

I gave up on media corporations quite some time ago after the 9/11 event. Before that there was an occasional useful interpretation of events, but now they cover events like the mass shooting incidents only superficially with instant, suspiciously fake interpretations. There have been many reports in alternative, independent media, mostly online, of CIA infiltration of media corporations (see for examples: this, this, this, and this) that suggest such coverage by media corporations is largely propaganda to serve the interests of the capitalist Deep State and/or their US/Anglo/Zionist Empire. I don't pay much attention to their coverage of these events, and I won't be commenting on them at the present time.
In spite of polling data which seems to indicate that ordinary people view with disdain and skepticism news and analysis provided by media corporations, I still think that media corporations have a major influence on how ordinary people view such events. One only has to look at these current articles (see this, this, this, and this) largely from liberal-left online websites that take the coverage provided by media corporation of the shootings seriously, and try rather desperately to sort the wheat of truth from the chaff of deceptions (fake news and analysis).
My many years of activism has given me a rather cynical view of coverage by media corporations. For example, I knew instantly in 2001 when I saw on TV the collapsing of the twin towers of the World Trade Center that their coverage was designed as a major false-flag event in order to generate fear in Americans. However, I didn't know at the time the ultimate purpose of the event. Only later I became aware that our ruling class were preparing us for their agenda to re-shape the Middle East.
This is the reaction I have now regarding the mass shootings: wait and see what solid evidence sheds light on what is truly going on. I'm not arguing that these were contrived events, but I view their coverage by media corporations with considerable skepticism. I think that more time is needed to uncover the true reasons behind their coverage and interpretations.

Because I am not trained/educated significantly in the physical sciences, I don't pretend to understand many technical concepts by climate scientists. This article is an example of the latter. But, because I have had extensive training in the social sciences, much of it outside of conventional curricula, I have been left with the glaring impression of the extent our tiny ruling capitalist classes will lie to protect their system which gives them dominance over the vast majority of humans (99.9%).
The capitalist system is like a cancer: it requires incessant growth to maintain itself. Mostly independent scientists have for the last 50 years warned our masters of the evidence pointing to this crisis, but the latter regard this information as intolerable. Capitalist ruling classes have punished scientists along with other critics of their system using economic sanctions by imposing roadblocks on their careers. Most scientists consciously and instinctively know this; and to guard their careers, they go out of the way to subdue the truth about the crisis. Knowing this and our masters' capacity to lie and deny, I have during the past several years concluded that our capitalist masters are pathologically obsessed with avoiding the truth about the climate crisis and the fundamental contradiction between climate stability and their system.
Capitalist ruling classes have demonstrated the extent of their ability to tell lies (I don't think most of them are aware that they are lying--it's mostly unconscious) through their control of every institution of advanced capitalist nations. In my obsessive pursuit of truth, I have become aware of this insight over many years of social justice and anti-war protests, formal education (political sociology), and informal education through reading of often hard-to-find books and articles. Thus, I have become indelibly conscious that such ruling classes will lie, cheat, and murder millions to propagandize and indoctrinate us in the wonders and virtues of capitalism, and to deny their many crimes. They are consumed by the pathology of dominance and control.
So, nowadays, as we descend into the crisis of climate destabilization, there is no limit to their pathological attempt to deny the evidence of impending disasters and assured extinction. Because humans are so susceptible to this pathology, capitalists along with the vast gullible majority will become extinct. But not only human species. I've learned that most other species will not survive this catastrophe. The monstrosity of this crime grows ever larger.

Rojava: A practical example of ecosocialism?

I was amazed that the Monthly Review crowd behind this website was deceived by this Empire propaganda piece. Its inspiration is a recent book entitled Make Rojava Green Again published self-servingly by the Internationalist Commune of Rojava. Rojava, for the people who don't know, is a center of the Kurdish enclave in northern Syria that has collaborated with, and supported by, US forces.
Five years ago a number of pieces started appearing in left-wing websites that extolled the same kind of pro-Kurdish propaganda that the Syrian Kurds were the most progressive scene on the face of the earth because they were supposedly promoting feminist and a new radical form of a socialist government.
In late 2014 I noticed a report by David Graeber from The Guardian and others reports, mostly in the website of Reflections on a Revolution (since sold to a non-profit organization) extolling the Syrian Kurds as having a very appealing ideal of progressive ideas about how to organize a society. And, I was so easily convinced of this view because of the authors or the sources.
Then in early 2016 I started noticing reports that gave a very different picture. In 2017 there was a number of articles that took issue with the earlier reports (see especially this, this, and this), and that viewed the Syrian Kurds as being used by the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire to balkanize Syria (this was a favorite strategy used to attack their enemy nations by the British in their earlier empire). I was thoroughly convinced of this view when Stephen Gowans posted his article in 2017 entitled "The Myth of the Kurdish YPG’s Moral Excellence".
Still, we see articles like this one and by Pete Dolack, normally a progressive writer, that keep on extolling the Syrian Kurds and that the Empire must defend them! I never cease to being amazed by the Empire propagandists and their accomplishments to infiltrate and influence leftist organizations to post articles like this one.

Slater doesn't even begin to explain how and why the capitalist ruling classes have forbidden any serious attempt to draw the right lessons from this horrendous event and all other events since then.
The extensive history of major political events since the Russian Revolution has encompassed military invasions, CIA subversive actions (including the "Color Revolutions"), infiltration of media corporations, educational institutions to obliterate the true history since this revolution, etc. She focuses on only one dramatic event. Since the end of WWII the US Empire engaged in one of history's worst crime of mind altering accomplishments motivated by capitalist ruling classes to preserve their system from any good examples that the vast majority of the Earth's people might create. One of the results was the distortion of socialism.
The Russian Revolution of 1917 shocked the capitalist ruling classes all over the globe. (I covered this in a series of posts in October and November 2017 commemorating the hundredth anniversary. Type in "Russian Revolution" in any of my search engines scattered across my weblog.) This decisive event of the 20th century established the first government that banned any significant private ownership of the economy. (Only small family-run businesses were permitted.)
Since that time capitalist ruling classes have fought obsessively to crush this economic arrangement and to prevent it from spreading. (See this and this.) The British led the efforts, along with at least 13 other nations, after the Revolution to militarily destroy it. (Yes, the USA participated.) The extensive capitalist ruling classes efforts did not destroy the Soviet Union, but they succeeded in distorting much of the fabric of Russian socialism which led to its collapse in 1990, and have largely prevented the establishment of socialist governments elsewhere in the world. Cuba is hanging on by a thread, and Venezuela's efforts are being threatened. In my opinion, China's rule by the Communist Party with its substantial capitalist sector has still to prove itself.
The history of this sordid, long series of events has been carefully and successfully hidden from the American people. Since then, one of history's most significant event has been rewritten by well paid historians and others employed by Western media and entertainment corporations. This largely successful propaganda and indoctrination effort has been overwhelmingly successful. Slater focuses on only one horrendous event in this long and complex history.
In these dreadful current times, we see the rise of major countries like Russia, China, and Iran, which are pursing a multilateral world, are threatening the dominance of the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire which replaced the overtly fascist empires of Germany, Japan, and Italy in WWII.

Neoliberalism Has Met Its Match in China

Brown essentially argues that a capitalist state should manage their corporations on behalf of the capitalist class like China does. This thesis confirms her support for the capitalist class which is what I've inferred from writings in the past. To argue her thesis, she cites a number of examples of countries (referred to as "Asian Tigers economies" and Japan) that between 1960s and into the 1990s had a strong government sector that supported their capitalist enterprises.
They were quite easily taken down by the imperial USA in the 1997 Asian crisis, and she doesn't explain why they were defeated at the time by the neoliberal policies of the US Empire, and she doesn't explain why China wasn't (other than their economy was too big). I think that China's Communist Party were far more protective of their industries both private and state-owned.
The shallow-thinking Brown doesn't hesitate to argue her thesis that the US should adopt such a government like China. To support her argument, she also draws on an article in Foreign Affairs, a core ruling capitalist class publication, in which surprisingly advocates a similar government arrangement for the US and argues against the belligerent policies of the Obama and Trump administrations! She summarize the argument of that article as being the following:

US industries under the control of capitalists logically sought short-term profits by transferring their operations to China and a number of other countries where the cost of labor was much cheaper. She can't have it both ways: supporting US capitalists while wanting them to promote national interests. The US and all other capitalist classes only use the nation when it is convenient, and dispenses with the nation when it isn't convenient for their maximization of profits. The prime objective of capitalist ruling classes is that they always seek their own class interests: profits and power. The US/Anglo/Zionist Empire is guided by neoliberal policies which considers national boundaries irrelevant in their pursuit of profits.

The implication is that China, being too strong to be knocked out of the game as the Soviet Union was, needs to be coerced or cajoled into adopting the neoliberal model and abandoning state support of its industries and ownership of its banks. [This she ignores.] But the Chinese system, while obviously not perfect, has an impressive track record for sustaining long-term growth and development. While the U.S. manufacturing base was being hollowed out under the free-market model, China was systematically building up its own manufacturing base and investing heavily in infrastructure and emerging technologies, and it was doing this with credit generated by its state-owned banks. This is another liberal argument in support of capitalism. That is, capitalism, must be guided by the capitalist class to more efficiently support US capitalists.

NATO’s China Double-Think

Cunningham starts out by castigating such fools as NATO’s Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg of Norway and other such lackeys of the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire, but sees the directors of the Empire digging their own graves by their bellicose actions and threats.
As the US/Anglo/Zionist Empire experience one military defeat after another, threatened by the desertion of countries from the petro-dollar, and mounting debts to 23 trillion dollars, the directors of this Empire are now panicking by threatening everybody and thus, digging its own grave. Such is Cunningham's argument--and I firmly believe he is correct. The master satirist does it once again: mockingly criticizes our masters in the ruling capitalist class for trying to "beat the drum" (def.) for more attacks on civil liberties (as if there has not been enough under the Patriot Act). (The other major mouth piece of our masters, The Washington Post, is also demanding this. One cannot fault our masters for a lack of coordination.) No doubt they have in mind first attacking "white supremacists" as only a first step; then they will use this to take away what's left of the civil liberties of all of us.

The official narrative of the moment is Democracy versus The Putin-Nazis (also known as The War on Populism), which I’ve been covering in these columns, satirically and more seriously, for the better part of the last three years. According to this official narrative, “democracy is under attack” by a conspiracy of Russians and neo-Nazis that magically materialized out of thin air during the Summer of 2016, right around the time Trump won the nomination. OK, the Russia part kind of sputtered out recently, so the global capitalist ruling classes and their mouthpieces in the corporate media are now going full-bore on the fascism hysteria. They’ve been doing this relentlessly since Trump won the election, alternating between the Russia hysteria and the fascism hysteria from week to week, day to day, sometimes hour to hour, depending on which one is “hot” at the moment.
These recent mass shootings have provided them with a golden opportunity, not just to flog the fascism hysteria once again, but to fold it into the terrorism hysteria which Americans have been indoctrinated with since September 11, 2001 (the objective of which indoctrination being to establish in the American psyche “the Terrorist” as the new official enemy, replacing the “Communist” official enemy that had filled this role throughout the Cold War).

Willers's remarks about the prime role of PBS as gatekeeper and propagandist for the Deep State parallels my own experience after many years of watching the ad-free programming which is funded by major US corporations and the rich endowments of capitalists. Yes, they always thank "viewers like you", but I think the appeal to the public functions as a propaganda cover to legitimatize their programming. While corporate advertisers sponsor commercial programs to increase sales of their products, they also insure the future of the capitalist system by lavishly funding PBS.
He concludes with this summary statement:
