in the time remaining, to help us understand how the man-made system of capitalism will lead to the extinction of our human species, and so many others.
We’ve lived so long under the spell of hierarchy—from god-kings to feudal lords to party bosses—that only recently have we awakened to see not only that “regular” citizens have the capacity for self-governance, but that without their engagement our huge global crises cannot be addressed. The changes needed for human society simply to survive, let alone thrive, are so profound that the only way we will move toward them is if we ourselves, regular citizens, feel meaningful ownership of solutions through direct engagement. Our problems are too big, interrelated, and pervasive to yield to directives from on high.

A Distillation of DOD Funding Priorities for August 2013
This is a lengthy and detailed report on where at least half of your tax dollars are going. So, I recommend scanning it.
It's clear that military-industrial part of the ruling class is doing well at the trough of government expenditures. Do you have any doubts as to whether their corporations will be affected by a possible government shutdown over the current budget crisis in Washington? Of course not. The shutdown show is being performed by the corporate sponsored Congress because the ruling class directors want social expenditures cut, especially The Affordable Care Act.
I certainly do not support this program which I regard as an expensive gift to the insurance companies. However, it is arguably better than nothing. The right-wing puppets in Congress have no alternative medical plan for Americans whom they view as merely a source of expendable labor, while left-wing puppets want to reward the insurance companies. An obvious and inexpensive solution is to extend Medicare to everyone.
