Directly challenging the NATO powers’ policy of cutting off credit to Russia to undermine the ruble and bankrupt the Russian economy, China is pledging to extend financial aid to Moscow.Lantier cites numerous important sources to support the title of this article, but as usual with WSWS policy, he does not provide any links to external sources. In spite of the fact that this website is quite reliable in reporting news from other sources, I find this policy very annoying. No one is infallible, and people differ in the way they interpret information. By not providing links to references from external sources, we can not be certain if their interpretation is correct unless we take a lot more time hunting down the references. This policy is another illustration of their Trotskyist "vanguard" orientation.
We’ve lived so long under the spell of hierarchy—from god-kings to feudal lords to party bosses—that only recently have we awakened to see not only that “regular” citizens have the capacity for self-governance, but that without their engagement our huge global crises cannot be addressed. The changes needed for human society simply to survive, let alone thrive, are so profound that the only way we will move toward them is if we ourselves, regular citizens, feel meaningful ownership of solutions through direct engagement. Our problems are too big, interrelated, and pervasive to yield to directives from on high.
