We’ve lived so long under the spell of hierarchy—from god-kings to feudal lords to party bosses—that only recently have we awakened to see not only that “regular” citizens have the capacity for self-governance, but that without their engagement our huge global crises cannot be addressed. The changes needed for human society simply to survive, let alone thrive, are so profound that the only way we will move toward them is if we ourselves, regular citizens, feel meaningful ownership of solutions through direct engagement. Our problems are too big, interrelated, and pervasive to yield to directives from on high.

  • Propagandists Cry About Bernie’s Online Base Because It’s Effective, Not Because It’s Mean by Caitlin Johnstone from her weblog. (Note: I think she is "spot on" in identifying a skeptical trend especially among young people in the USA. I have a hunch that this is primarily due to the Deep State's (the directorate of the ruling capitalist class) ongoing attacks on Donald Trump and his administration for the lies they disseminate. Also, a part of this phenomenon is ruling class's increasing boldness about expressing lies. This is a result of lies they told in the past with a gullible public largely believing all of them (the assassinations of John and Robert Kennedy, Martin L. King, the Iraq War, 9/11, the Bernie Sanders 2016 election campaign, etc.) Currently I see evidence of this in the growing popularity of satirical websites like Consent Factory, Inc., Jimmy Dore Comedy, RTAmerica which includes Redacted Tonight, Johnstone's website, and many other alternative news and analysis websites.)
