We’ve lived so long under the spell of hierarchy—from god-kings to feudal lords to party bosses—that only recently have we awakened to see not only that “regular” citizens have the capacity for self-governance, but that without their engagement our huge global crises cannot be addressed. The changes needed for human society simply to survive, let alone thrive, are so profound that the only way we will move toward them is if we ourselves, regular citizens, feel meaningful ownership of solutions through direct engagement. Our problems are too big, interrelated, and pervasive to yield to directives from on high.

Posts that I especially recommend today: Sunday, November 15, 2020

  • Hammer and Scorecard: Big Tech’s Drive to End Democracy by Matthew Ehret from The Canadian Patriot. (Note: I noticed that I could not access the article from FRN where I first encountered this article, but I could from Ehret's website The Canadian Patriot. I reported this incident to FRN, and I got a reply that they thought the Deep State has been active again censoring information.) My reaction to the article: I see that many alternative media sites are posting articles challenging the election of Biden/Harris. I have no direct interest in this battle between fascists factions, but hopefully the outcome will result in Americans questioning the election results, and, hopefully, to eventually discover that their much ballyhooed "democracy" is a sham designed to deceive them like many other shams.
  • Pandemic Panhandling Update by David Rovics from Dissident Voice. (Note: I thought it would be good to hear from someone totally immersed in the gig economy.)
